Why Do I Need This?
A small side or occasional table in a dressing room or bedroom can be a handy surface for placing and displaying jewellery, fashion accessories or make-up. An empty corner, a blank area of wall or a niche or recess with a nearby electric socket are all good areas to place a bedroom occasional table. Adding a table lamp is always a good idea. It's practical but also provides atmospheric mood lighting, especially when eye-catching, decorative lampshades are chosen. Complete the look with wall art you adore or with which you have a travel or cultural connection such as this unique selection of framed handicraft textiles from Thailand and Mexico.
 
Good To Know...
We gave this old pub table (one of a pair we sourced) a fresh lick of black paint to transform it into a chic and useful surface for a dressing room or bedroom. The newly-painted legs are in immaculate condition. The vintage table top has seen its fair share of chats and clinking glasses over time, hence it shows some subtle imperfections and wear (see pictures). In our humble opinion (and we are fussy!), these do not detract from its overall sturdiness, usefulness and attractive silhouette. Moreover, giving vintage furniture a new lease of life means we are also doing our bit for the planet!
We teamed our table with framed textiles from abroad: indigo-woven textiles from Thailand and a hand-stitched, floral banner from Chiapas, Mexico - the latter framed with Tru-Vue UV-protective glass for less glare, truer colours and to prevent fading. The pre-loved, red glass, twisty-neck vases and large vintage trinket dish - the latter great for stashing bracelets, bangles and beads - are all in excellent condition. The drum lampshade in pretty pastels and bright colours was newly made in the UK from a Southeast Asian cotton dress textile. Our painted backdrop is in 'Teresa's Green' by Farrow & Ball, an elegant, calm and restful shade for dressing rooms or bedrooms.
